Itinerary

DAY 1, FRI: USA - DUBROVNIK
Departure on your overnight transatlantic flight to Dubrovnik
with meals enroute.
DAY 2, SAT: DUBROVNIK (D)
Arrival today at the Dubrovnik airport where you will be met
and transferred to your hotel. Afternoon at leisure to relax
before meeting your fellow travelers and tour director for
dinner.
DAY 3, SUN: DUBROVNIK (B)
This morning enjoy a walking tour of "Old Dubrovnik";
the Rector's Palace, Bell Tower clock, Orlando's
Column and the Sponza Palace. You will also see the Dominican
Monastery and Franciscan Monastery with its Pharmacy,
one of the oldest in the world. The rest of the day is at
leisure.
DAY 4, MON: DUBROVNIK - SPLIT (B,D)
This morning we depart Dubrovnik and travel north along the
spectacular Adriatic coast, past old fishing villages and
new resorts, to Split. Enjoy a city tour featuring the historic
inner city, built around Roman Emperor Diocletian's
Palace, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. See remnants
of Split's Roman heritage, its Renaissance and Gothic
structures, Jupiter's Temple, the Peristyle and the
Cathedral.
DAY 5, TUE: SPLIT - TROGIR - ZADAR - PLITVICE
LAKES (B,D)
After breakfast, we head north along the coast to Trogir,
the center of artistic activities, where scholars from around
the world gather to study and paint. Then it's on to Zadar,
the oldest Slavic city on the Adriatic, once famed cultural
center. We pause here for an orientation tour that includes
the ruins of the Roman Foroum, the Cathedral and St. Donat
Church. Our journey continues as we turn inland towards
the beautiful Plitvice Lakes National Park.
DAY
6, WED: PLITVICE LAKES (B,D)
A full day to enjoy Plitvice National Park listed in UNESCO's
World Heritage list, the breathtaking scenery of this natural
wonder of 16 terraced lakes surrounded by thickly wooded mountains
and lush vegetation. In the morning we will take a walking
tour around several of the lower lakes. The rest of the day
is at leisure.
DAY 7, THU: PLITVICE LAKES - OPATIJA - POSTOJNA - BLED
(B,D)
We return to the coast to the beautiful bay of Kvarner and
its popular resort, Opatija. Then we head north to Postojna,
home of one of the largest caves in Europe. Here we tour the
fantastic subterranean world by miniature electric train.
Afterwards, our journey continues to Bled, beautifully situated
in the Julian Alps.
DAY 8, FRI: BLED (B)
Our morning sightseeing tour features the town of Bled with
the lake-shore, and includes a visit to the Bled Castle, perched
on a cliff high above the lake. Balance of the day at leisure
for optional activities, such as visiting the old church with
a collection of religious art on a small island in the middle
of the lake.
DAY 9, SAT: BLED - LJUBLJANA - ZAGREB (B,D)
Our last day of the tour of Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia,
begins with a visit to the open-air market, the City Hall,
Robba's Fountain, the Three Bridges and the Parliament. Then,
proceed to Zagreb, the capital city of Croatia. Your sightseeing
tour upon arrival will take you along the historic Upper Town,
to see the St. Mark's Church, the St. Catherine's
Church, the Cathedral, the Parliament and the Government Palace.
DAY 10, SUN: ZAGREB/USA (B)
After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for
your departure flight.
