Itinerary

Your ItineraryDay 1 : USA-SAN JOSE
Depart USA. Meeting and assistance upon arrival in San Jose and transfer to your hotel. Balance of day at leisure.

Day 2 : SAN JOSE-ARENAL (B,D)
Following breakfast you will be transferred to your hotel in the Arenal area. In the afternoon you will partake in a tour to the Arenal Volcano with dinner at the Tabacon Resort & Hot Springs.

Day 3 : ARENAL (CANO NEGRO WILDLIFE REFUGE) (B,L)
This morning you will spend the entire day at the Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge. The Refuge consists of an 800 hectares lake and over 9000 hectares of tropical humid forest. The incredible boilogical diversity within the are is demonstrated by the fact that many species found here cannot be seen in any other part of the country. Return to the Arenal area for dinner and overnight.

Day 4 : ARENAL-MONTEVERDE (B)
After breakfast, you will enjoy the scenic drive to the Monteverde Cloud Forest area and your hotel. Afternoon at leisure to explore the area on your own.

Day 5 : MONTEVERDE (B)
Today you will take a tour to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. At 200 meters above sea level, this world famous cloud forest reserve will be the backdrop for a great hike where, with the help of your naturalist guide, you will search for the Resplendant Quetzal. Afternoon at leisure to partake in optional tours.

Day 6 : MONTEVERDE-SAN JOSE - PANAMA CITY (B)
After breakfast, transfer to San Jose Airport for your flight to Panama City. Meeting and assistance upon arrival in Panama City and transfer to your hotel.

Day 7 : PANAMA CITY (PARTIAL CANAL TRANSIT) (B)
Morning transfer from your hotel to Pier 18, where you will board a launch to begin your transit of the Miraflores Locks. Afterwards, you will enter Miraflores Lake, where you can also observe the Pedro Miguel Locks. Return to Pier 18 and transfer to your hotel.

Day 8 : PANAMA CITY (B,L)
Panama City was founded by the Spanish conquistadors in 1519. Today's tour of the city begins with a visit to the ruins of "Panama Vieja." Continue through the modern residential areas to Casca Antiguo, the colonial city of Panama built in 1672, developed as a result of the relocation of Panama Viejo. Visit the Cathedral and its Park surrounded by historical buildings, French Quarters, Plaza Francia, Plaza Bolivar and more. Continue to the Miraflores Lock in the Panama Canal to see the large ships transiting the Canal. The afternoon is free.

Day 9 : PANAMA CITY-BOCAS DEL TORO (B)
Transfer to the airport for a short flight to Isla Colon, the main island of the Bocas del Toro archipelago. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel located on the main street of this small community which was first visited by Christopher Columbus in 1502. In 1745, English pirates successfully set up a base here to trade live turtles, sarsaparilla, tortoise shell, and mahogany. Today, the nine islands and 251 cayes that form the archipelago are a heaven for snorkeling and diving enthusiastes.

Day 10 : BOCAS DEL TORO (B)
Today enjoy a full day at leisure to enjoy the island. Perhaps partake in an optional diving, snorkeling or kayaking expedition. Bike rentals and boat trips to nearby Mangrove Forest are also available.

Day 11 : BOCAS DEL TORO (B)
Full day at leisure to enjoy the island.

Day 12 : BOCAS DEL TORO-PANAMA CITY- USA (B)
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight home via your connection in Panama City.
