Itinerary
 Day
1 : USA - SAN PEDRO SULA (D)
Departure from USA. Meeting and assistance upon arrival in
San Pedro Sula, transfer to your hotel. Balance of the day
at leisure. Overnight in San Pedro Sula.
Day 2: SAN PEDRO SULA - COPAN (B)
After breakfast depart for Copan. After a stop at the village
of La Entrada for a brief visit to the market, enjoy the beautiful
countryside as you travel on to the picturesque village of
Copan Ruinas. During the drive you will be offered information
about Mayan trade routes, social and political organization,
and theories on their mysterious demise. Overnight in Copan.
Day 3: COPAN - YOJOA LAKE (B)
After breakfast continue to the Yojoa Lake. Due to it's elevation
and geographical location, the lake attracts the greatest
concentration of birds in the country. En route stops in Santa
Barbara to visit a handy craft center supporting work with
artisans women of Santa Barbara. Panama hats, colorful baskets,
woven baskets and other products are produced from natural
fibers such as reed, corn husk, flat rush and palm leaf. After
this interesting visit we continue to the Yojoa Lake. Overnight
in a hotel by the lake.
Day 4: YOJOA LAKE - LA CEIBA (B)
Transfer from Lake Yojoa to La Ceiba. The Caribbean coast
of Honduras is one of the richest regions in popular culture,
contemporary history and tropical ecological diversity. It
is the region that possesses the greatest agricultural and
industrial development. Tour the city of La Ceiba and transfer
to a palm covered beach to enjoy the gorgeous sunset. Overnight
in La Ceiba.
Day
5: CUERO & SALADO WILDLIFE - REFUGE (B, L)
Early morning departure for the village of La Union, where
your vehicle will be replaced by a railway hand cart. Local
villagers use long poles to push the cart along the tracks
to the isolated Cuero y Salado Wildlife Refuge. Explore the
mangroves by boat to see numerous waterfowl, monkeys and,
with luck, the endangered manatee. Lunch will be at the small
traditional community of Salado, nested between river and
sea, before returning to La Ceiba. Leisure time to enjoy the
rich, tropical atmosphere in one of the merriest towns in
the country. Overnight in La Ceiba.
Day 6: LA CEIBA- UTILA ISLAND (OPTION A) OR ROATAN ISLAND
(OPTION B) (B)
After breakfast transfer to the airport for morning flight
to selected Island. Upon arrival at your island of choice,
transfer to your hotel.
Day 7: UTILA ISLAND OR ROATAN ISLAND (B)
Day at leisure - overnight.
Day 8: UTILA ISLAND OR ROATAN ISLAND (B)
Day at leisure - overnight.
Day 9: UTILA ISLAND OR ROATAN ISLAND (B)
Day at leisure - overnight.
Day 10: UTILA/ROATAN ISLAND - SAN PEDRO SULA - USA (B)
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight to
San Pedro Sula, where you will connect with your flight home.
