Itinerary

DAY 1: USA - ATHENS
Departure on your overnight flight to Athens.
DAY 2: ATHENS
Arrival today at the Athens International Airport, where
you will be met by FreeGate personnel and assisted through
customs and baggage claim formalities. Transfer to your
hotel in the city. The remainder of the day is at leisure.
DAY 3: ATHENS (B)
After breakfast at the hotel, depart on an Athens city tour
which will introduce you to the most important sites of
the city. You will visit the famed Acropolis with its dominating
view, and the site of the renowned Parthenon, one of the
most impressive structures in the world, and the Acropolis
Museum. Remainder of the day at leisure. Overnight in Athens.
DAY 4: ATHENS - OLYMPIA (B,D)
After breakfast, early morning departure by air conditioned
motorcoach to start the four-day Classical Tour. Drive
to the Corinth Canal (brief rest stop). Continue to Epidaurus
to visit the the world renowned theater and archaeological
site, famous for its remarkable acoustics. After a short
stop in Nauplia continue to Mycenae and see the Lion
Gate and the Beehive Tombs of King Agamemnon. Continue
driving through the Central Peloponnese, Arcadia and
the towns of Tripolis and Megalopolis for arrival into
Olympia for dinner and overnight.
DAY 5: OLYMPIA - DELPHI
(B,D)
This morning in Olympia visit the famous stadium which
gave birth to the Olympic Games. You will also visit the
impressive Temple of Zeus, the Temple of Hera, and one
of the greatest sculptures of all time, "Hermes" by
Praxiteles. Afterwards, drive via the plains of Ilia and
Achaia to Patras, the capital of Peloponnese, and take
the ferry from Rion to Antirion. You will pass picturesque
Nafpactos, the town of Itea, then continue to Delphi for
dinner and overnight.
DAY 6: DELPHI - METEORA (B,D)
After breakfast, the morning today is dedicated to the
exploration of the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios and the
Delphi Museum. Free time for lunch and shopping at the
local stores. Later drive through Amphissa, Lamia and
Trikala to Kalambaka for dinner and overnight.
DAY 7: METEORA - ATHENS (B)
Morning visit to the breathtaking "hanging" monasteries
of Meteora. It is estimated that more than a million of
people visit Meteora each year. It comprises of gigantic
rock pinnacles with old monasteries on their tops. The
creation of the rocks has not been explained till today.
Some geologists believe that they were carved out by the
Pinios river. Afternoon drive back to Athens via Thermopylae
(visit) & Kamena Vourla. DAY 8: ATHENS (B)
Day at leisure. You may embark on an optional
Full Day Cruise to the Saronic Islands ($90), go on a shopping
spree in the
fashionable shops of nearby
Kolonaki
Square, or simply join the locals and relax by enjoying
a cup of strong coffee and watch the people bustling
about
this modern city.
Overnight in Athens.
DAY 9: ATHENS - DEPARTURE (B)
After breakfast at the hotel, you
will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight.
