DAY 1: USA - AMMAN
Depart via overnight transatlantic flight from New York to Amman with meals on board.

DAY 2: AMMAN
Upon your arrival at Amman's international airport, you will be met, assisted with Customs and baggage claim formalities & transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure.

DAY 3: AMMAN (B,D)
Today's tour takes you through the streets of the capital city of Jordan, known also in the ancient days as Philadelphia. Visits include the ancient Citadel with the remains of the Temple of Hercules, the Greek-Roman Theater, the archaeology & folklore museums & more. The afternoon is at leisure. In the evening you will enjoy dinner with typical Jordanian food & folkloric dancing & music at the Kan Zaman village.

DAY 4: AMMAN (DEAD SEA-PELLA- UMM QEIS) (B)
Drive to the Dead Sea today, the lowest point on Earth. Continue north along the shores of the Dead Sea to ancient Pella, the favorite place of archaeologists. Here are the remains of a Chalcolithic settlement of the 4th millennium BC. Proceed to Umm Qeis (Gadara of the ancient days) rich in history. Visit the colonnaded terrace and the ruins of the Theater & enjoy a panoramic view of the Sea of Galilee & Golan Hights. Return to Amman.

DAY 5: AMMAN (JERASH-AJLOUN) (B)
Drive north this morning to the ancient city of Jerash (Gerasa of the ancient days).The city was a member of the Decapolis together with Pella & Gadara, known as the city with the 1000 pillars and second only to Petra in tourist appeal. Visit the triple Arch Gate, the Hippodrome, the Theater the Roman Forum surrounded by 63 Ionian columns. Then continue to Ajloun to visit the imposing castle of Qalaat El Rabad, built by the forces of Salahedin for his campaign against the Crusaders. Return to Amman.

DAY 6: AMMAN-MADABA-MT. NEBO-PETRA (B)
Start your journey this morning, driving southwards along the ancient King's highway one of the oldest trade routes in the world to Madaba, home of the finest Byzantine mosaics. View the 6th century mosaic map of the holy-land & continue to Mt. Nebo & alleged burial site of Moses. Then on to Kerak driving through the magnificent scenery of Wadi Mujib to visit the Crusader castle & proceed to Petra for overnight.

DAY 7: PETRA (B)
A full day to visit the many sites of Petra. You will walk through the Siq, the only access to the city to reach the Treasury, the Theater, the Courts, the Hall of Justice, the palaces & many other monuments. Overnight in Petra.

DAY 8: PETRA-WADI RUM- AMMAN(B)
Today you will drive to Wadi Rum desert, one of Jordan's largest & most magnificent desert landscapes. This is the area where the film Lawrence of Arabia was shot. Take a short ride on a 4x4 vehicle and continue to Amman for overnight.

DAY 9: AMMAN (DESERT CASTLES) (B,D)
Today you will drive to the eastern desert to visit some of Jordan's unique Desert Castles. First you stop at Qasr Amra (declared by UNESCO as a world heritage site); its interior walls are covered with lively frescoes & the rooms are paved with colorful mosaics. Then on to the black basalt fort Azraq, in continuous use since Roman times and the headquarters of T.E. Lawrence during the Arab revolt, the Qasr el Halabat and the Qasr Kerana. Dinner this evening with the "Sheikh family"; a chance to meet Jordanians & have dinner at their home. You will be transferred to Sahab where a man known as Ahmed Sheik lives. After the introduction during which you will meet his mother, his wife & his 12 children, Mrs. Sheikh will serve you dinner and the whole family will join you. This is a unique experience.

DAY 10: AMMAN (B)
Enjoy a day at leisure in the modern capital city of Jordan. Lots to see & do.

DAY 11: AMMAN-USA (B)
This morning you will be transferred to the airport for your departing flight home.
