Day 4: RIO DE JANEIRO (B)
Today you will have a full day at leisure. Enjoy and relax on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro or take an optional tour to Petropolis. Petropolis is reached via a short drive amongst lush vegetation into the countryside. Petropolis is a small colonial town with cobblestone streets and horse-drawn buggies. Visit the old cathedral and the Summer Palace of Dom Pedro II, Brazil's last emperor. The Palace is now a museum, housing a beautiful collection of crown jewels, furniture, paintings and tapestries from the days of the Empire.

Day 5: RIO DE JANEIRO (B)
Today provides a great opportunity to explore more of Rio de Janeiro and its surrounding areas. For example, take an optional tour to Corcovado. After breakfast, you will drive towards the Lagoon District, until Cosme Velho, where the cog-wheeled train station to Corcovado is located. Riding the train, you will pass inside the Tijuca Forest until you reach the top of Corcovado Mountain about 2200 feet above sea level, where you see the 125-foot statue of Christ the Redeemer, Rio's landmark. Here, you get a panoramic view of the beautiful city of Rio de Janeiro.

Day 6: RIO DE JANEIRO-SALVADOR (B)
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your short flight to Salvador da Bahia. Salvador was the first point discovered by the Portuguese, and was founded in 1549. Also, known as Bahia, this city was the capital of Brazil during the colonial times. Due to the unevenness of its terrain and for strategic purposes, the city was built in two levels. Salvador is famous for its 365 churches, historical treasures, and also for its beaches. Upon arrival in Salvador you will be transferred to your hotel. Balance of the day at leisure.

Day 7: SALVADOR (B)
During this morning’s historic city tour you will discover the essential sights of Salvador tracing the development of the city from its simple beginnings to the what is now the third largest city in Brazil. You will first go to the mouth of the immense bay and then via elegant tree-lined avenues and bustling city streets to the Pelourinho, a Unesco Heritage site and the largest complex of colonial architecture in the South America. You will stroll through the narrow, busy streets lined with buildings in pastel shades of an age gone by, soaking in the sights and sounds of this vibrant city. You will also visit the church of São Francisco with its exuberant gold-leafed Baroque interior and the Pelourinho square, the heart of the old town. Remainder of the day at leisure.
