Itinerary
Day
1: USA-LIMA
Depart USA via your overnight flight to Lima.
Day 2: LIMA
Meeting and assistance upon arrival and transfer to your hotel.
Balance of day at leisure.
Day 3: LIMA (B)
Today's tour of Lima includes the San Francisco monastery,
Plaza de Armas and Government Palace, the court of the Inquisition & the Cathedral. Continue to the Gold & Arms
Museum where you will view a priceless collection of Peruvian
artifacts.
Day 4: LIMA-AREQUIPA (B)
Morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Arequipa.
Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon you
will visit the 16th century Santa Catalina Convent, the Plaza
de Armas, La Compania Cloisters & the suburbs of Cayma
& Yanahuara.
Day 5: AREQUIPA-COLCA CANYON (CHIVAY) (B,L,D)
This morning depart from your hotel for a scenic drive to
the city of Chivay in the Colca Valley, once the second most
important valley of the Inca Empire. Overnight is in a lodge
in the area, including dinner.
Day 6: CHIVAY (COLCA CANYON)- AREQUIPA (B,L)
Today you will drive to the beginning of Colca Canyon, the
deepest canyon in the world, twice the size of Grand Canyon,
a truly amazing site. Proceed to the Condor's Cross "observation
point" from which condors can be spotted nesting in the canyon's
walls. After lunch, return to Arequipa for overnight.
Day 7: AREQUIPA-JULIACA-PUNO (B)
Morning flight to Juliaca, and transfer to your hotel in Puno
on the shores of the Lake Titicaca. In the afternoon you will
explore the Sillustani Tombs of the Aymara Indians.
Day 8: PUNO (LAKE TITICACA) (B,L)
Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable lake in the world and,
according to the legend, the birthplace of Manco Capac, founder
of the Inca Empire. Today you will enjoy a boat trip visiting
the island of the Uros Indians on the Lake and also Taquile
Island. Overnight in Puno.
Day 9: PUNO-CUZCO (B,L)
Transfer to the train station for a full day journey along
the top of the Andes, to Cuzco. You will be served a box
lunch during your trip. Meeting & assistance upon arrival in
Cuzco & transfer to your hotel.
Day 10: CUZCO-PISAC- OLLANTAYTAMBO (B/L)
Full day excursion to the famous Pisac Indian Market in the
Urubamba valley & the magnificent fortress of Ollantaytambo.Return
to Cuzco for overnight.
Day 11: CUZCO (B)
Today's tour of Cuzco, the former "Capital City of the Inca
Empire," includes highlights of the colonial city & visits
to the ruins of Tambomachay, Kenko, Puca Pucara & Sacsayhuman's
gigantic zigzag-walled fortress.
Day 12: CUZCO-MACHU PICCHU (B,L)
Early morning you will board the train for a three-hour journey
to the famous ruins of Machu Picchu "the Lost City of the
Incas". A guided tour will take you through Temples, Houses
& sacred Altars of this advanced hidden world. Buffet
lunch is included. Overnight near the ruins.
Day 13: MACHU PICCHU-CUZCO (B)
Morning at leisure to continue exploration of Machu Picchu
on your own. In the afternoon, board the train for your journey
back to Cuzco.
Day 14: CUZCO-LIMA-ICA (NAZCA LINES)-PARACAS (B-L-D)
Fly to Lima, then embark on a 4-hour motorcoach drive south
to Ica. Over-fly the mysterious Nazca markings, one of Peru's
archaeological treasures. Fly back to Ica for a short visit
to the Ica Archaeological Museum & continue to Paracas
for overnight.
Day 15: PARACAS (BALLESTAS ISLANDS)-LIMA (B,L)
This morning you will take a yacht cruise to the Ballestas
islands, known as the "Peruvian Galapagos". Afternoon return
to Lima.
Day 16: LIMA-USA (B)
Transfer to the airport for your departing flight home.
