Itinerary
Day
1: USA-LIMA
Depart USA via your overnight flight to Lima.
Day 2: LIMA
Meet your local host upon arrival and transferto your hotel.
Balance of day at leisure.
Day 3: LIMA (B)
Your morning tour visits the landmarks of the city: San Francisco
monastery, Plaza de Armas and Government Palace, the court
of the Inquisition & the Cathedral. Continue to the impressive
Gold & Arms Museum.
Day 4: LIMA-CUZCO (B)
Transfer to the airport fora short flight to Cuzco. Free time
to adjust to the high altitude (11,000 feet). In the afternoon,
enjoy a City Tour of Cuzco the "Capital city of the Inca Empire"
which includes highlights of the Colonial city & visits
to the ruins of Tambomachay & Sacsayhuaman's gigantic
zigzag-walled fortress.
Day 5: CUZCO-MACHU PICCHU (B,L)
Board the train for a 3-hour journey to the famous ruins of
Machu Picchu, "the lost city of the Incas". Machu Picchu was
only discovered in 1911 and consists of over 200 buildings.
A guided tour will take you through Temples, Houses & sacred
Altars of this advanced hidden world. Afternoon return to
Cuzco.
Day 6: CUZCO-PISAC- OLLANTAYTAMBO (B,L)
Today's full day excursion includes a visit to the famous
Pisac Indian Market & the magnificent Fortress of Ollantaytambo,
the oldest continuously occupied settlement in the Americas.
Return to Cuzco for overnight.
Day 7: CUZCO-PUNO (B)
Transfer to the train station this morning for a 12-hour ride
to the city of Juliaca. Upon arrival you will be met & transferred
to your hotel in Puno on the shores of Lake Titicaca.
Day 8: PUNO (LAKE TITICACA- CROSSING)-HUATAJATA (B,L,D)
Today you will travel by bus from Puno to Copacabana (Bolivia)
with a visit on the way to the floating islands of Uros Indians
in the Lake Titicaca. After lunch in Copacabana you will visit
the famous Cathedral of "Virgin Morena', Bolivia's most important
religious shrine. Then you will cross Lake Titicaca by hydrofoil
and visit Sun & Moon islands. Upon arrival in Huatajata,
enjoy an audiovisual presentation of the Kallawayas &
visit to their mystic world. Overnight at Inca Utama hotel
with candlelight dinner & folkloric show (Pena)
Day 9: HUATAJATA-TIWANACU- LA PAZ (B)
Today will drive to La Paz visiting on the way the ruins of
Tiwanacu, capital of a once great civilization, reaching
its splendor around 700AD. Tiwanacu was considered the largest
city in the world & the "Cradle of the American Civilization".
Ruins of Aqueducts, Temples & the famous Gate of the
Sun bear witness to the greatness of this ancient civilization.
Continue to La Paz. Overnight.
Day 10: LA PAZ (B)
The city of La Paz was founded in 1548 and boasts a unique
blend of cultures located within a magnificent mountain panorama.
Today's tour of the city visits a typical Indian market, the
famous Witch Doctor's Market & the San Francisco colonial
church built in 1744. We pass the Plaza Murillo where the
Cathedral, the Government Palace & the National Congress
buildings are located. From here you will visit the famous
colonial street "Calle Jaen" in the old colonial La Paz &
the archaeological Temple of the Tiwanacu period. Continue
through the areas of Obrajes, Calasoto & La Florida to
the Moon Valley. Return to La Paz. The remainder of the day
is at leisure.
Day 11: LA PAZ-USA (B)
After breakfast at your hotel you will be transferred to the
airport for your departing flight home.
