Itinerary
 Day
1: USA-CARACAS
Depart USA to Caracas. Meeting and assistance upon arrival
and transfer to your hotel. Balance of day at leisure.
Day 2: CARACAS (B)
Caracas is Venezuela's capital and largest city. Modern and
progressive in some areas, the city reflects the name and
image of Bolivar, the great Liberator, and it was his native
city. Your morning tour includes visits to the colonial city,
San Francisco Church, Capitol Building, Bolivar Square, Bolivar's
house, Municipal Council and modern residential areas. The
afternoon is free for your own activities. Caracas is filled
with lively cultural life and has an excellent subway system.
Perhaps you may choose to visit La Candelaria, a district
of good restaurants and tasca bars, or to experience the nightlife
in Altamira.
Day 3: CARACAS (COLONIA TOVAR) (B,L)
Today you will drive to Colonia Tovar. This Bavarian style
village, located at altitude of 1,830 meters, was founded
in 1843 by German farmers. They preserve its original German
architectu
ral style and way of life. It was closed to the outside world
until 1953, when a road was opened to the village. It is famous
for its excellent homemade jam, bread, bratwurst, pastries
and handicrafts. Venezuela's first beer was brewed here and
is still a local specialty. The visit includes the old gristmill,
wooden church, pottery and handicrafts shops, and more. Lunch
in town is included. Early evening return to Caracas.
Day 4: CARACAS (LOS ROQUES ARCHIPELAGO) (B,L)
Morning transfer to the airport for a short flight to Los
Roques Archipelago. You will land in the southern island known
as Gran Roque. You will explore the Archipelago by sail boat
and enjoy the white sand beaches and natural beauty of the
islands. Lunch is included. Return to Caracas by late afternoon.
Day 5: CARACAS-CANAIMA (B,L,D)
Transfer
to the airport for your flight to Canaima. You will be met
upon arrival and transferred to your lodge. Set
on the shores of a wine-red lagoon, Canaima has its own waterfalls.
A combination of seven rose-colored cataracts, simmering
jungles,
dashing rivers, peaceful savannas and unexplored "Tepuies" surround
the area. After lunch in the lodge, you will tour Canaima
Lagoon. A short walk and dugout canoe ride will take
you through the Carrao River and Sabana (plain) of Mayupa
to visit Sapo and Sapito falls. Dinner and overnight at the
lodge.
Day 6: CANAIMA (B,L,D)
After breakfast at the lodge, you will embark on a full day
excursion to the Kavac caves. After flying over the mountain,
you will be able to see Angel falls, world's highest waterfalls.
You will land at the Indian village of Kamarata. Then, a light
trek into the Kavac Gorge to discover rivers and waterfalls
of incredible beauty. Here you will have the opportunity to
swim under the falls. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: CANAIMA (ANGEL FALLS)- CARACAS (B)
After breakfast at the lodge, you will board a DC3 plane (weather
permitting) for your flight over "Angel Falls", one of Venezuela's
most romantic and remote sights, considered to be one of the
world's most spectacular marvels. It is the highest waterfall
in the world (3,212 feet). It was unknown to the outside world
until American pilot Jimmy Angel crash-landed here in 1937.
Return to the lodge and transfer to the airport for your flight
to Caracas. Transfer to your hotel.
Day 8: CARACAS-USA (B)
After breakfast, transfer to Caracas Airport for your flight
home.
