Day 1: USA-CARACAS
Depart USA to Caracas. Meeting and assistance upon arrival and transfer to your hotel. Balance of day at leisure.

Day 2: CARACAS-URUYEN (B,L,D)
Early morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Uruyen, where the expedition will begin. Weather permitting, you will have your first view of Angel Falls during the overflight. Uruyen is located close to the base camp where American pilot Jimmy Angel had his base camp before discovering the falls in 1937. The day will be spent discovering the beauty of the surrounding canyons, jungle and waterfalls. You will overnight in thatched roof huts, with twin beds or hammocks and private showers-all the modern conveniences except electricity.

Day 3: URUYEN-KAVAK (B,L,D)
This morning you will hike through jungle paths through the native villages of Old Uruyen and Santa Marta, where you will see the Indian's farms and experience first-hand how they live. You may even have the opportunity to meet a local Shaman. In the afternoon, continue your journey to the camp at Kavak, home to the Pemon Indians. Here you will sleep in hammocks in clean rustic rooms for the following two nights.

Day 4: KAVAK (B,L,D)
In Kavak the thatched roof dwellings have hardly changed for thousands of years. Here you will interact with nature via excursions from the base camp including a visit to the Kavak Waterfall surrounded by virgin jungle. Those who are interested can join in a soccer game with local Pemon Indians.

Day 5: KAVAK-KAMARATA (B,L,D)
Today you will set off for Kamarata, a delightful small port on the river, visiting a Capuchin mission along the way. Here you may have the opportunity to visit the Pemon children studying in their classes. From this point, you begin your trip down the Carrao River in curiaras (dugout canoes), stopping for lunch and enjoying the surrounding nature. At night, you will sleep in hammocks in a scenic location.

Day 6: ANGEL FALLS* (B,L,D)
Today you will spend most of the day continuing your journey on the Carrao River within the Devil's Canyon. The scenery along the riverbanks is constantly changing with mountains on either side, until ultimately Angel Falls takes a surreal definition in the distance. Disembarking, you hike to see the falls up close - a spectacle that will stay with you forever. Conditions permitting, you will swim in a pool very near to the base of the falls, the world's highest waterfall, cascading over 3000 feet above. Once again, you will overnight in hammocks at a local camp on Ratoncito Island. Following a delicious dinner, enjoy watching the falls disappear with the sunset.

Day 7: ANGEL FALLS-CANAIMA- CARACAS (B,L)
Following the breathtaking view of Angel Falls at sunrise, you will return to civilization by way of the river to Canaima for your last experience of Sapo Falls, where you will walk behind a gushing curtain of water and feel the tremendous energy it releases. After lunch on Anatoly Island, you will cross the Canaima Lagoon by curiara. The unforgettable scenery surrounding the lagoon has been featured in many movies. You will visit a souvenir shop which helps support the livelihood of the local Indians, and take a late afternoon flight back to Caracas for overnight in your hotel.

Day 8: CARACAS-USA (B)
Following breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to the USA.

Important Note - between December and May, the dry season prevails and it may not be possible to navigate the river to reach Angel Falls and hike to the base. In this case, you will spend an extra night in Uruyen and following two nights in Kavak, fly to Canaima to spend the next two days in that area. You will then visit Orchid Island and Happy Falls by curiara. You will overnight on Day 7 in a camp by the lagoon, on Anatoly Island. Weather permitting, you will still enjoy the over-flight of Angel Falls.
