with meals on board.
Day 2, Sat: CAIRO
You
will receive a warm welcome from our representative,
who will assist you with Customs and baggage
claim formalities and transfer you to
your hotel. The remainder of the day is
at leisure.
Day 3, Sun: CAIRO - MUSEUM OF ANTIQUITIES, CITADEL MOSQUES
(B)
An excellent start to your tour this morning is the impressive
Cairo Museum of Antiquities, housing treasures from the 1st
to the 31st Dynasties of Egypt's Pharaohs. Continue to the
Citadel of Salah El Din with its many monuments, including
the great Mohammed Ali Mosque. Visit the Sultan Hasan Mosque
and the fascinating Khan El Khalili Bazaar, which features
a wondrous variety of goods. Return to the hotel.
Day 4 Mon: CAIRO - ASWAN (NILE CRUISE) (B, L, D)
Early morning transfer to the Cairo airport for a short flight
to Aswan, to board your Nile cruise ship. Settle in and
enjoy a peaceful lunch on board. After lunch on board,
enjoy a felucca ride to view Elephantine Island, the hilltop
Mausoleum of Agha Khan and Kitchener's Island. Dinner on
board tonight will be followed by a Nubian folkloric show.
Day 5, TUE: ASWAN - KOM OMBO - EDFU (B, L, D)
After breakfast See the High Dam built by Egypt's President
Nasser to control the flooding of the Nile, the ancient
granite quarries, the
unfinished Obelisk and the Temple of Isis on the Island of
Philae. Sail to Kom Ombo. Visit Kom Ombo and the temple
dedicated to the gods Sobec and Haroeis. Sail to Edfu.
Dinner & overnight on board the ship in Edfu.
Day 6, WED: EDFU - ESNA - LUXOR
(B, L, D)
Morning sightseeing in Edfu includes the Temple of Horus.
Enjoy lunch on board as you sail to Esna Cross the lock .
Arrive in Luxor. Here you will explore the Temples
of Karnak and Luxor. Dinner on board the ship is followed
by a belly dance show. Overnight.
Day 7, THU: LUXOR - SHARM (B)
After breakfast disembark and visit Luxor's West Bank, where
you will explore the astonishing ancient kingdom of Thebes.
Local sightseeing includes the Valley of the Kings, the
Valley of the Queens, the Temple of Queen Hatsepsut at
Deir El Bahari, the great Temple of Ramses III, and the
Colossi of Memnon. Late afternoon transfer to the airport
for your flight to Sharm El Sheik. Upon arrival transfer
to your hotel for overnight.
Day 8, FRI: SHARM EL SHEIKH (B)
Breakfast at the hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure
at this charming resort town of Sinai on the Red Sea.
Day 9, SAT: SHARM EL SHEIKH - ST. CATHERINE's MONASTERY
(B, L)
Drive into Sinai this morning to visit St. Catherine's
Monastery. Built in
the 3rd century in a valley 5,000 feet above sea level, the
Monastery offers a magnificent collection of icons, ancient
manuscripts, frescoes and other treasures. Lunch is included.
Return to Sharm El Sheikh.
Day 10, SUN: SHARM EL SHEIKH - CAIRO (B)
Transfer to the
airport for your flight to Cairo. The balance of the day
is at leisure.
Day 11, Mon: CAIRO - PYRAMIDS & SPHINX, MEMPHIS & SAKKARA
(B)
Today your full day tour begins with a visit to the great
Pyramid of Cheops and the enigmatic Sphinx, remains of a
great civilization. After lunch (optional) you will visit
Memphis, the capital of ancient Egypt, to see the statue
of Ramses II and the alabaster Sphinx of the 18th Dynasty.
Then, continue to Sakkara to see the Step Pyramid, the oldest
in Egypt, and the famous Mastaba Tombs. Return to the hotel
for overnight.
Day 12, Tue: CAIRO-USA (B)
Morning
departure on the return flight to the
USA.
